'States of Affairs' (solo project) (2017) evolved into the much larger collaborative project 'States of Affairs' (2017-2019) – see 'Collaborative Works' for more information. The title makes reference to Ludwig Wittgenstein’s Tractatus Logico-Philosophicus (1922). I was interested in how ‘[states of affairs] are “about” objects but not in terms of some mode of representation.’ (Pollock, 1984, p. 53).
The drawings began with 5 objects – a diary, a money pot, a telephone, some roses and a wallpaper scraper, which took into account the general themes of time, money, communication, emotions and work.
