'Die Erweiterung' by Kate Pelling (2025, 06:36 Mins.) is an experimental video in which the artist discussses their background, education and artistic practice. An experimental editing technique, 'blind editing' – which involves making cuts to the video without looking at the footage, is discussed in detail. The background of the video was taken directly from ‘Joseph Beuys - Die Erweiterung des traditionellen Kunstbegriffs (Gespräch 1980)', Joseph Beuys in conversation with Hermann Schreiber. The artist remains 'inside' the background throughout the duration of the video, unable to talk their way out of it, suggesting that there is no 'Erweiterung', but only ghosts of the past holding us back and an inability to control narratives within our own lives.
